Joe has gotten involved
in an important community-wide
issue. The Louisville Orchestra Board had voted to declare bankruptcy.
Just as the Orchestra Board was about to declare bankruptcy,
Joe called the Board President and got permission to negotiate
directly with the Musicians
Union. The sides were $930,000 apart. Joe offered to
pledge $465,000
if the Musicians
would agree to concede $465,000 in the negotiations. After mediation,
in which Joe played
a huge part, the sides reached an agreement.
